Josh & Martha Costa Rica Honeymoon

Filed under: Testimonials — Skip Neal @ 2:34 pm

Josh & Martha just recently returned from their honeymoon I customized for them at the Occidental Grand Pappagayo in Costa Rica.  This is a great 4 star, all-inclusive resort at Guanacaste beach.  Nice, lush, tropical property with great food and service and plenty of activities offered offsite.

Thanks Josh & Martha for the kind words.  So glad these guys had a great honeymoon.

Skip,

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond.  We had a great time in Costa Rica.  The resort was great, the food was excellent, and we really enjoyed the scenery and activities offered.  We saw a ton of wildlife and could not have been more pleased with our honeymoon.  Attached are a couple of pics from our trip.

Thanks for all of your help!

Josh

Vista West Ranch Open House Texas Hill Country

Filed under: Austin Wedding Venues — Skip Neal @ 12:15 pm

Wanted to let everyone know that I attended another open house yesterday at the beautiful Vista West Ranch in Dripping Springs.  Brian & Cindy Pearson have done a great job of creating a refined rustic chic by combining Hill Country elegance and Austin’s contemporary energy with understated charm. Weathered-wood, aged tin, stained concrete floors and amazing sunsets create a perfect setting. They have a great ‘Biergarten’ to kick back and relax as well as a new “Honeymoon Cottage” that allows the lucky couple to stay the night of their wedding and experience the tranquility of the Texas Hill Country at night.  If you haven’t checked out Vista West Ranch, please do so and let Brian & Cindy know that the Honeymoon Guru sent you.  Thanks again to all the great vendors and couples that attended yesterday.  www.vistawestranch.com

Carnival Dream Family Cruise: February 2010

Filed under: Testimonials — Skip Neal @ 9:39 am

Thank you Kelly & Derrell Wright for the kind words and I’m so glad you guys had a great family cruise on the Carnival Dream.  It is so nice to have honeymoon clients come back to me to help with a family vacation, anniversary trip or second honeymoon.  Thanks guys!!!

Hi Skip,

I’ve been meaning to write for days to let you know we had so much fun,
the ports were great, well not the Bahamas, but whatever I bought a nice
fake bag at the straw market so it was worth it :) The ship was nice,
but I don’t think they did anything but add more staterooms so it felt
crowded when you went to the pool or get something to eat on days at
sea, but that was really the only downside. The service was amazing, I
think they made the cruise, we actually ate in the dining room every
night because we loved our waiter and the food was really good…my
mother ordered two deserts every night :)
Our room was perfect, we had two large port holes that let in a ton of
natural light…we had plenty of space and didn’t feel squeezed at all.
When we got on the ship we went to the camp carnival orientation with my
sister to hear about the activities (even though Mason was too young to
join the fun) and we found out they had babysitting on the boat from
10PM-3AM every day AND we could play with Mason in the room from 12-2PM
everyday or leave him there for babysitting…on the cruise website it
states babies under 2 are not able to do anything at camp carnival, so
that was a nice surprise. We left Mason there 2 nights and 1 time during
the day, he did great…everyone was really nice…I was so happy with
the service and hospitality everyone showed that the little things like
long lines for the buffet and crowded elevators didn’t bother me.

I can give you more details over the phone…I’m just super swamped at
work, but I wanted to say THANK YOU for all your work, I know we were a
handful at the beginning :) Oh and thank you for the check, that was a
nice gift to come home to after we spent so much for the vacation :)

Importance of Social Media

Filed under: Uncategorized — Skip Neal @ 1:39 pm

Well, I have been told for the past few months that I should be blogging like crazy and really expanding my social media, since I do such a great job with my personal networking and my customer service.  Well, as you can probably see from the past few days, I am trying really hard to get the blogging going and learning all I kind about doing different social media without overwhelming or boring everyone.  I did attend a an online webinar today entitled “Travel Agent Crash Course in Online Marketing”.  I have to admit that I was fascinated by the great info Adam provided, but realized that I am really behind with my social media.  However, I still have time to grow and learn from my clients and colleagues what really works best for my business and what I do.  These guys did a fabolous presentation and offer so many resources to all kinds of businesses.  If anyone is interested, here is their website:  http://www.digitaldesignvideo.com/

Keep your fingers crossed that I keep learning more and more to be the best for my clients and colleagues!!!

History of the Honeymoon

Filed under: Uncategorized — Skip Neal @ 8:14 pm

Like all histories, the history of how honeymoons became to be, is varied depending on geographical location. The post wedding vacation that we have come to know as the honeymoon, was not always such. Many sources say that the history lies somewhere in Northern Europe, where for a month’s time, the newly married couple would drink a wine, known as mead, which was made from fermented honey. This is where part of the term, honey, comes from. A month’s time during this period was also referred to as a moon, hence the term, honeymoon.

Later during the bride-by-capture era, we first relate honeymoons with travel. Grooms would abduct their brides for a period of one month and take them into hiding. Friends and family assured their safe return. However, it was imperative no one should find them during this period. Very often the family of the bride would go out looking for her to bring home. It was the husband’s hope that within one month’s time his bride would be pregnant and would be before the bride’s family located her.

It was not until the 16th century and later in the Victorian era, that the honeymoon became the romantic trip that it is known for today. During Victorian times, the bride and groom were kept separated during the engagement and the honeymoon was the first time the couple was allowed to go away together and get to know each other.

During the 19th century, in the Victorian era, bridal tours were introduced and paid for by the groom’s family. The couple would go on tour or take a wedding trip which lasted anywhere from several weeks to several months. With the rise of industrialization, the middle class sought to emulate the upper class bridal tours, and took small trips which lasted a few days after the wedding. Once automobiles, trains and airplanes became mainstream couples were able to increase the distance of the honeymoon trip and seek out exotic locations, hence the modern day honeymoon was born.

According to tradition, the groom or groom’s family should plan the honeymoon, since the bride and her family have planned the majority of the wedding. Where to go on a honeymoon should be a joint decision by the couple, but the groom or groom’s family should handle the arrangements to help alleviate the stress from the bride’s family. Of course though, this is only tradition, and may of today’s modern couples handle the honeymoon planning.

Honeymoon 306

Just had Clark and Jenna get back from a week long honeymoon at one of our favorite destinations, El Dorado Maroma.  They had a few nice things to say and included some pics for us.  Thanks again guys and congrats on your wedding and so glad to hear we helped you have a great honeymoon!!

Skip, Amy

I had intended to get back to y’all much sooner but life after honeymoon/vacation/El Dorado Maroma is much more hectic and a bummer. Jessa and I wanted to express our deepest appreciation for all of your help in planning the perfect honeymoon. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and can’t thank you enough. The best descriptor we have for the entire week is “perfect”. (I have provided your contact information and a good word to two work buddies who are in need of the same services). Attached are just a few of a few hundred photos we took. If you need any recommendation letters or anything, please let us know. Thanks again.

Regards,

Clark and Jessa Brashears
